Commercial auto insurance for tree services
Add commercial auto to your tree trimming insurance quote. One application covers your general liability and your trucks.

Why personal auto isn't enough
Personal auto policies commonly exclude or limit business use, and they aren't built for chip trucks, bucket trucks, or towing a chipper to a job site. If a truck titled to the business or used for the business causes an accident, you want a commercial policy that lists it.
What the application asks
- Number of vehicles and the main type (pickups, chip trucks, bucket trucks, crane trucks)
- How many employees drive and how many don't
- Your radius of operation
- Whether you tow chippers, stump grinders or trailers
- The liability limit you want, and whether you want physical damage on your vehicles
- Drivers (optional): name, date of birth and license number
Towing and trailers
Liability for a trailer or chipper you tow generally follows the power unit. Physical damage to the chipper itself is a separate question, usually handled under equipment coverage.
Common questions
Can I get commercial auto without general liability?
This site quotes commercial auto as an add-on to a tree service general liability application, which is how most tree services buy it.
Do bucket trucks need special coverage?
The truck is covered under commercial auto. The aerial device may need to be listed on the auto policy or on equipment coverage depending on the carrier. Mention bucket trucks on your application.
