Arborist errors and omissions insurance
Professional liability for arborists who sell advice: tree risk assessments, appraisals, reports, and expert witness work. Your general liability policy is built for falling limbs, not for a report a client says was wrong.

Why arborists need E&O
Consulting arborists, ISA Certified Arborists and TRAQ-qualified assessors put their opinion in writing. Homeowners, HOAs, municipalities, insurers and attorneys rely on that opinion to make decisions. When a tree you assessed fails, or a valuation you wrote is challenged, the claim is about your professional judgment, not about property you physically damaged.
Arborist insurance for field work (general liability) and arborist errors and omissions insurance for advice are two different policies. Many arborists carry both.

Common questions
What does arborist E&O insurance cover?
Arborist errors and omissions insurance, also called professional liability, is designed to respond when a client claims your professional advice, report or assessment was wrong, incomplete or negligent and it cost them money. Defense costs are usually included, subject to the policy terms.
Doesn't my general liability cover my reports?
Usually not. General liability is built for bodily injury and property damage caused by your operations. Many general liability policies exclude professional services. If you are paid for advice, assessments or written opinions, E&O fills that gap.
Do I need E&O if I only trim and remove trees?
If you never give paid advice, reports or appraisals, general liability is the priority. Once you start selling risk assessments, tree appraisals, or reports that clients rely on, E&O is worth quoting.
Is arborist E&O claims-made?
Most professional liability policies are written on a claims-made basis, which means the policy in force when the claim is made is the one that responds. Keeping continuous coverage and knowing your retroactive date matters.
